About the event

6pm THE TOMAS RODRIGUEZ TRIO featuring Tomas Rodriguez (guitar) along with Urbano Sanchez (percussion) and Barry Kornhauser (cello). This magical trio takes listeners on a journey from the origins of the guitar in the stringed instruments of West Africa to its migration through southern Spain and its flowering in the music of the Americas - where African, Indigenous and European influences came together to create a tapestry of harmonic and rhythmic richness. "Tomas Rodriguez plays guitar with a passionate originality, with an individual touch, drawing from the musical heart of the Latin world. The folk and classical traditions of Spain and South America are richly evident in Rodriguez’ playing, but he transmutes them into a sound clearly, fervently his own.”

7pm THE ANNIE KEATING TRIO  featuring Annie Keating (guitar), Steve Mayone (mandolin) and Chris Tarrow (guitar & Slide). This trio’s been playing together for a long time and the effortless acoustic enchantment will light up a Sunday eve with original songs by Annie Keating, "A cross between Willie Nelson and John Prine and you don't get any better than that.” -THE VILLAGE VOICE “Country-rock, with a renegade bite.” – LA WEEKLY “Honest, refreshing.”  – NEW YORK POST“Keating navigates the Americana environs inhabited by Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin and Lucinda Williams, and proves she’s every bit their equal.” – NO DEPRESSION“One of the most refreshing female acts to come down the pike in a long while. Deep and provocative songs.”

8pm THE MUSIC OF LIFE FEATURING SWISS CHRIS (drums/electronics) & JAY RODRIGUEZ (saxophones/flute) from the Roots, Prince, Marc Ribot to Celia Cruz, from Miley Cyrus to Elvis Costello... Jay Rodriguez draws from the NYC tapestry that he has spent his life giving to. He will be joined world renowned drummer and visionary Swiss Chris who has  from worked with John Legend , Sir Elton John , Snoop Dog to Gloria Gaynor.  “Jay Rodriguez could be breathy and insinuating on a ballad, brawny and extroverted in an up-tempo…" – Jon Pareles, THE NEW YORK TIMES  Fleet-fingered saxophonist Jay Rodriguez has played it all in New York: salsa with Celia Cruz and Tito Puente, hip-hop with DJ Premier and Groove Collective, straight-ahead the Mingus Big Band  " Mr. Rodriguez moves between idioms and energies as easily as he switches instruments…" – Giovanni Russonello, THE NEW YORK TIMES
